Beautiful silk and metallic thread stumpwork of St. Anthony and the Christ Child. The body of the Christ Child and the heads and hands of St. Anthony are hand-painted, apparently on paper or some paper-like material. Protected behind glass in an ornate Italianate carved wood and gilt-gessoed frame. The image is difficult to date but I am guessing early 20th century.

CONDITION

There are a few small spots of thread loss (or possibly displacement) but the image is full with no bare areas. The frame has cracks and one chip at left (see photo).
